Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and communicate policies, procedures, and standards for data governance to ensure effective and efficient data use across the organization.
- (e.g., data classification, user access controls, metadata management)
- Propose and enforce data quality standards, monitor data quality metrics, identify inconsistencies or anomalies, and implement measures to improve data accuracy and reliability.
- Work closely with business units, engineering, cybersecurity, legal, and compliance teams to align data governance practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and update metadata repositories, master data documentation, and data catalogs to enable unified understanding and accessibility of data assets.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, UU PDP) and internal security policies, including data masking, encryption, and access controls.
- Use dashboards and reporting tools to visualize governance metrics and analyze anomalies, as well as provide alerts when issues happen.
- Lead workshops and training sessions to educate employees on data governance best practices, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and enhancement of data governance practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- 3+ years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or related data analyst roles, preferably in regulated industries such as fintech, banking, or healthcare.
- Strong SQL and Python programming skills.
- Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with data privacy and protection laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, UU PDP) and industry standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to document policies clearly and engage with stakeholders at various levels.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across departments.
- Relevant data governance or data management certifications are a plus.
