Company Description
SL2 Group is an ecosystem of organizations that design and implement solutions to navigate climate, societal, and digital transitions. We envision a world where sustainability can be lived out, and we act every day to make that vision real.
Founded in Singapore in 2011, we work globally with governments, companies, and grassroots organizations to address issues from climate adaptation and circular economies to green and tech upskilling and community inclusion.
By uniting foresight, technology, and community engagement, our collective transforms ideas into scalable impact — building climate resilience hubs, developing AI skilling programs, and nurturing grassroots movements.
Role Description
- We are seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to join our team in Bandung.
- This is a full-time, on-site role where you will design, prototype, and develop hardware systems and electronic components that support our environmental sensing, IoT, and sustainability-focused projects.
- You will work closely with our software, AI, and sustainability teams to bring physical prototypes to life and ensure robust, field-ready hardware for deployment in real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test hardware systems — from circuit schematics to functional prototypes.
- Develop firmware for embedded systems (e.g., ESP32, STM32, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi platforms).
- Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication modules (e.g., BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, GSM) for IoT applications.
- Work with PCB design tools (e.g., KiCad, Altium) to design and iterate hardware layouts.
- Collaborate with software and data teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and digital platforms (e.g., IoT dashboards, databases, cloud services).
- Conduct reliability and performance testing for hardware in real-world environmental conditions.
- Document development processes, including circuit diagrams, component lists, and test procedures.
- Support field deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of deployed hardware systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in hardware design, prototyping, or embedded system development.
- Proficiency in circuit design, PCB layout, and basic analog/digital electronics.
- Experience with microcontroller programming (e.g., C/C++, Arduino, MicroPython, or ESP-IDF).
- Familiarity with sensor integration, communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART), and power management.
- Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, will be considered a plus.
