We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient individual with a strong laboratory background to join our distribution team. The Technical Specialist will be the primary technical expert for our portfolio of ELISA Food Safety Testing Kits. This role is crucial for ensuring client success through professional product demonstrations, comprehensive hands-on training, and expert technical troubleshooting.
A key function of this position is acting as the technical liaison, communicating complex client inquiries and field performance data directly back to the factory supplier's R&D team to facilitate product improvement and specialized support.
This role will require regular on-site client engagement and training sessions focused on successful product adoption.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core ELISA Expertise & Demonstration
- Primary Expertise: Maintain deep technical expertise in the principles, methodologies, and applications of ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) testing for food safety contaminants (e.g., pathogens, allergens, toxins, or residues).
- Product Demonstration: Conduct compelling and accurate product demonstrations for prospective and current clients, covering the complete workflow from sample preparation through instrument operation (plate reader) and final data interpretation.
- Secondary Knowledge: Provide introductory support for related Rapid (Lateral Flow) Test products as an add-on when needed
2. Client Training & Education
- Hands-on Training: Design and deliver structured, hands-on training sessions for laboratory technicians and quality control personnel on the proper execution of ELISA protocols, including plate setup, standard curve generation, instrument operation, and data analysis.
- Curriculum Development: Develop clear, engaging, and comprehensive training materials (presentations, guides, checklists) tailored to various client needs and technical backgrounds.
3. Technical Troubleshooting & R&D Liaison
- Expert Troubleshooting: Serve as the initial point of contact for complex technical inquiries, application questions, and troubleshooting requests focused on ELISA performance (e.g., poor standard curves, high %CVs, matrix interferences) and instrument issues.
- Technical Communication: Crucially, document and communicate detailed technical inquiries, performance data, and potential application issues back to the factory supplier's R&D team to assist in root cause analysis and product optimization.
- Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve common issues, often through on-site visits or virtual support, to ensure client data integrity and success.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or Biotechnology).
- Laboratory Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience working in a commercial or regulatory laboratory setting.
Assay & Equipment Proficiency:
Demonstrable, in-depth expertise in performing and troubleshooting ELISA.
- Required familiarity with operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting associated ELISA instrumentation, including microplate readers and washers.
- Data Analysis Expertise: Proven ability to perform ELISA data analysis, including standard curve fitting, calculating concentrations, ensuring quality control parameters (e.g., %CV), and interpreting final test results.
- Microbiology Knowledge: Appreciation or foundational knowledge of classical microbiology testing techniques and their application in food safety is highly valued, especially related to pathogen detection.
- Communication & Liaison: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to document and articulate complex technical problems clearly to both non-technical clients and highly technical R&D personnel.
- Location: Stationed in Surabaya with no more than quarterly travel to Jakarta for training and team knowledge sharing
- Travel: Ability to travel frequently to client sites for demonstrations and training (estimated travel requirement will be up to [70]% of time).
- Full/ Part time: Part time arrangement can also be considered with the right credentials and background.
