The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the production department. This role ensures production activities run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards, quality assurance protocols, and regulatory requirements. The position also plays a key role in people management, continuous improvement, and achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Assist in planning, organizing, and controlling daily production activities for ice cream and liquid milk lines.
- Monitor production performance to achieve output, yield, quality, and efficiency targets.
Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, Halal, and other relevant food safety standards.
People & Team Management
Supervise and coordinate production staff, ensuring discipline, motivation, and effective teamwork.
- Support training and skill development of operators and shift leaders.
Provide guidance in solving operational issues and conflicts on the shop floor.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
Ensure strict adherence to product quality specifications and hygiene practices.
- Collaborate with QA/QC to handle deviations, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
Support audits (internal, external, regulatory, halal, ISO, etc.).
Process & Continuous Improvement
Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives.
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvement projects to reduce waste, downtime, and production costs.
Assist in maintaining optimal utilization of machines, materials, and manpower.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions for safe operations.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports (output, OEE, downtime, waste).
- Ensure accurate documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support budget control for production-related expenses.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in dairy/ice cream/beverage/food manufacturing (experience in multinational FMCG preferred)
- Strong knowledge of dairy processing, pasteurization, UHT, freezing, and packaging operations.
- Familiar with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, Halal Assurance System.
- Leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Willingness to work in shifts if required.
