Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of a high-capacity food manufacturing facility. This role ensures efficient production while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The Factory Manager leads cross-functional teams, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ensures compliance with regulatory standards and promotes effective people management through collaboration and a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

1.     Production Planning & Operations Management:

·     Lead and oversee daily factory operations to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective production.

·     Develop, implement, and monitor production plans aligned with business objectives and customer demand.

·     Optimize the utilization of resources, including raw materials, equipment, and workforce, to maximize productivity and minimize waste.

2.     Quality & Compliance:

·     Ensure full compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSSC).

·     Develop, implement, and oversee robust quality assurance systems and procedures.

·     Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed

3.     Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

·     Enforce strict adherence to workplace safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

·     Conduct regular risk assessments and lead the implementation of proactive safety programs and initiatives.

·     Ensure full compliance with all relevant government and industry HSE standards and reporting requirements.

4.     People & Performance Management:

·     Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams including Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance to achieve operational excellence.

·     Cultivate a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.

·     Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and internal company policies

5.     Process Improvement & Cost Optimization:

·     Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.

·     Drive initiatives to optimize production costs while maintaining high standards of product quality and consistency.

·     Lead and manage factory improvement projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic goals.

6.     Project Management

· Lead and oversee capital and operational projects within the factory, from planning through execution and completion.

· Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements in alignment with business goals.

· Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

· Monitor project budgets, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.

· Ensure all projects comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

7.     Supply Chain

·     Collaborate closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and packaging supplies.

·     Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent production disruptions.

·     Support demand planning and logistics to maintain an efficient and cost-effective supply chain

8.     Stakeholder Management:

·     Collaborate with senior management to align factory operations with overall business strategy and production targets.

·     Partner with the Production Innovation team to support new product launches and implement process improvements.

·     Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational transparency

9.     Data & Performance Analytics

· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess plant performance.

· Use data-driven insights to guide decision-making and identify areas for improvement.

· Prepare regular reports for senior management on production, quality, and efficiency.

10.  Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility

· Promote sustainable manufacturing practices and reduce environmental impact.

· Support corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives within the plant.

· Ensure compliance with sustainability goals and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in FMCG, preferably in food and beverage production and managing large teams in a high-volume production environment.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, quality control, and operational excellence in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in managing large teams, factory budgets, and end-to-end manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia is required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is an added advantage.
