The Mechanical Engineer role work with the electrical engineer to provide engineering solution for KC product innovation projects across Baby Care, Adult Care and Feminine Care machines. The Mechanical Engineer for this role will provide leadership and support to layout, engineering design, installation, and start-up for product innovation projects in KC IPC countries. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will collaborate broadly across R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, key OEM equipment suppliers and technical service providers to drive the development and execution of innovation projects in KC IPC countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical engineering design per innovation project requirement, provide the engineering feasibility analysis concept/report, scope confirmation and cost estimation per machine capacity and process knowledges.
  • Independently Mechanical/module detail design capacity with material/mechanical design/manufacturing and assembly knowledges.
  • Effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers and external service providers to implement innovation project successfully.
  • Adapt OEM equipment function and capability to manufacturing processes. Examples: Function rolls (Ear Applicators, OSCAR, SPA…), Cutting (Die, Water Cutter & Cutoffs), Mechanical bonding (Pressure & Ultrasonic), Adhesives, Web Handling, unwinds (Festoon & Dancers), Material Splicing, FIFE set-ups/options, Draw Control, Grade Mix Matrix, Manufacturing Considerations (Grade Change, PM, RFS).
  • Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets. This includes completing required project documentation through EFS, EDR
  • Execute the daily working in line with the company related policy or procedure including but not limited to business operation procedure\ policy\disciplinary policy, etc.

Key Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline (e.g. Science or Engineering related).
  • A minimum of 5 years of in related technical experience in mill, production or R&E environments.
  • In depth technical knowledge and expertise in personal hygiene products manufacture or machine design is preferred.
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing to individuals and groups and negotiate with customers and category managers.
  • Expertise in Mechanical Engineering with a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements in innovation projects.
  • Ability to create and deliver persuasive professional presentations to communicate data driven insights recommendations for improvements and advancements.
  • Ability to make project plan by Microsoft Project and work out project layout and concept solution by AutoCAD.
  • Experience working with external technical service providers.
  • Maintaining a good spirit and ability of teamwork.

  • Demonstrating high accountability and commitment to reach business objectives.
  • Working with positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to travel 10% -30% of time oversea.
