Hutan Kencana Group was established in Indonesia in 2021 to support ecosystem restoration efforts, protect biodiversity, and improve the wellbeing of communities living around forests. We develop innovative approaches to safeguard forests while providing sustainable livelihood alternatives for local communities.

The candidate will be responsible for supporting social assessments, community programs development, supervision, monitoring, and reporting aimed at improving the well-being of communities surrounding the company's operational areas. This role reports to the Program Development & MRV Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development and Monitoring

  • Design/plan and supervise the implementation of social assessments (e.g., baseline socio-economic assessments, SIA, Land Tenure Study, etc.), stakeholder/community engagement (e.g., FPIC, stakeholder mapping, stakeholder engagement plan), and community development programs (e.g., economic/livelihood development, health & sanitation, education) based on international standards such as IFC-PS, Verra VCS-CCBS, WB Environmental & Social Safeguards, UNEP Indigenous Peoples Framework, etc.).
  • Develop monitoring metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, ensuring they meet objectives and deliver long-term benefits.
  • Develop SOPs/guidance for field implementation and provide training/capacity building to field staffs or sub-contractors.
  • Monitor the implementation of programs and regularly evaluate progress and effectiveness of programs.

Resource Mobilization and Budget Management

  • Prepare budgets for social assessments and community development programs and manage allocated resources efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for external funding or partnerships to support initiatives.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain detailed records of community development activities, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for management and stakeholders, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.

Compliance and Ethical Standards

  • Ensure all activities adhere to local laws, company policies, and international ethical standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.  Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in designing and implementing social/community assessments, stakeholder engagement, community development programs, , or a similar role in accordance to international standards (e.g., IFC-PS, Verra CCBS, World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards, UNEP Indigenous Peoples Framework, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultural environments.
  • Passionate about community development and sustainability.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and inclusivity.
  • Professional proficiency in English at a standard business level is a must.
  • Ability to write reports in English.
