Job Summary:
The Glassblower at Hamesha Studio is responsible for crafting high-quality, hand-blown glass products, including drinking glasses, vases, lighting fixtures, decorative items, and custom design pieces. This role requires a deep understanding of glass-forming techniques, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with both traditional and experimental glassblowing methods.

The ideal candidate is a skilled artisan with a passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and precision. They will work collaboratively with the design team to bring unique concepts to life while ensuring the highest standards of quality and artistry.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Glassblowing & Production
Perform hand-blown glass techniques, including freehand and mold-based shaping.
Operate and maintain glassblowing tools such as blowpipes, furnaces, glory holes, annealing kilns, and pontil rods.
Create custom glass pieces for clients, including drinkware, lighting, and artistic sculptures.
Experiment with new forms, colors, and textures while maintaining Hamesha Studio's high design standards.
2. Quality Control & Finishing
Ensure all glass products meet design specifications and quality requirements.
Trim, shape, and refine glass pieces using grinding, polishing, and cutting techniques.
Inspect finished pieces for defects, cracks, or inconsistencies and make necessary corrections.
3. Collaboration & Design Execution
Work closely with designers, artists, and production managers to interpret design briefs and prototypes.
Contribute creative input on glass designs and techniques to push the boundaries of craftsmanship.
Assist in the development of limited-edition collections and custom commissions.
4. Safety & Equipment Maintenance
Follow all safety procedures when handling hot glass, torches, and kilns.
Maintain clean and organized workspaces, ensuring all tools and equipment are in optimal condition.
Monitor furnace temperatures and adjust as needed for different types of glass.
5. Research & Development
Experiment with new glass formulas, colors, and fusing techniques to develop innovative products.
Stay updated on traditional and modern glassblowing techniques to enhance skills and production capabilities.
Test and refine new molds, engraving, and surface treatment methods for unique finishes.
6. Training & Knowledge Sharing (Optional)
Guide and mentor junior glassblowers or apprentices in glassmaking techniques.
Participate in studio workshops and training programs to share expertise.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
3+ years of experience in glassblowing, either in a studio or professional production setting.
Formal training in glass artistry, craftsmanship, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Experience in high-end glass production, lighting, or tabletop glassware is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in hand-blown glass techniques, including shaping, sculpting, and mold work.
Knowledge of glass chemistry, annealing processes, and color mixing.
Ability to work with different types of glass (soda-lime, borosilicate, lead crystal, etc.).
Proficiency in using kilns, furnaces, torches, grinders, and polishing equipment.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
Patience and precision when working with delicate materials.
Ability to work under high temperatures and in a team-oriented environment.
