About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Social and Environmental Lead/Manager to join our team at China Gezhouba Group Corporation' in Bandung, West Java. What you'll be doing

Strategy and policy development:

  • Create and implement strategy: Develop a comprehensive sustainability and CSR strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives. This includes setting measurable targets for improvement.
  • Formulate policies: Create and maintain company policies that promote ethical and sustainable practices, covering areas like labor, environmental protection, and community engagement.
  • Stay current on trends: Keep up to date with the latest sustainability trends, regulations, and reporting frameworks to ensure the company remains innovative and compliant.

Environmental:

  • Minimize environmental impact: Lead initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint, focusing on energy and water conservation, waste reduction, and lowering carbon emissions.
  • Ensure compliance: Oversee and guarantee that all company operations adhere to local, national, and international environmental laws and regulations.
  • Manage waste and recycling: Develop and manage effective waste management and recycling programs throughout the organization.
  • Conduct audits: Perform regular environmental audits and impact assessments of business practices to identify and address potential risks and liabilities.

Social responsibility:

  • Manage community relations: Foster strong relationships with local communities and external partners, such as NGOs, to develop and support initiatives that address local concerns.
  • Oversee ethical practices: Work with other departments, such as Human Resources, to ensure ethical labor practices, promote diversity and inclusion, and uphold human rights standards.
  • Coordinate philanthropy: Manage corporate philanthropic and employee volunteering programs to support community development and social causes.

Reporting and communication

  • Stakeholder engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders—including investors, customers, and employees—regarding sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor and report performance: Track, analyze, and report on the company's E&S performance, using reporting frameworks or those relevant to investors.
  • Raise awareness: Promote a culture of social and environmental responsibility within the company through training and employee engagement programs.
  • Strategic communication: Develop and execute communication strategies to inform the public and media about the company's commitment to Community and Social.

Risk and project management

  • Assess and mitigate risk: Identify and evaluate E&S-related risks to the business and develop strategies to minimize them.
  • Manage projects: Plan, execute, and monitor specific sustainability projects, ensuring they meet their objectives and stay within budget.
  • Lead change: Champion and manage change within the organization, encouraging departments to integrate sustainability into their daily operations.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing environmental programs, projects, or teams
  • Experience working with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and laws
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) such as ISO 14001
  • Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Certification in environmental management or sustainability is an advantage
