Responsibilities

Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related tools.
Manage and maintain database systems across multiple environments (development, testing, and production).
Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies (e.g., indexing, partitioning, query optimization).
Manage user roles, permissions, and database security (access control, encryption, auditing).
Ensure database availability through clustering, replication, and failover mechanisms.
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance or reliability issues.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployment and optimization.
Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and database architecture.
Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
roficient in relational database systems: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
Familiar with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Couchbase.
Experienced in backup and recovery planning, performance tuning, and query optimization.
Knowledge of database security, including role management, access control, and encryption.
Skilled in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
Understanding of high availability and replication technologies such as Oracle RAC, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and mirroring systems.

Optional But Valuable

Basic knowledge of networking concepts and operating system administration (Windows/Linux).
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployment and automation.
