Position Overview
The Purchasing & Logistics Team Lead is a critical role responsible for overseeing the procurement team's daily operations and strategic direction. This position ensures the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of our supply chain by leading a team of Purchasing Supervisors, managing key supplier relationships, and implementing robust procurement strategies. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in leadership, strategic sourcing, and system management, particularly within a technical or project-driven industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of the Purchasing Supervisor team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute category sourcing strategies to achieve significant cost savings, improve quality, and ensure timely availability of goods and services.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Oversee the supplier lifecycle, including vendor selection, performance evaluation, and relationship management. Lead complex negotiations for high-value contracts and frame agreements.
- Process Compliance & Improvement: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulatory requirements. Continuously review and optimize procurement processes for greater efficiency.
- System Management & Reporting: Utilize MS Dynamics 365 Business Central as the primary ERP tool to manage the procurement cycle, analyze spending data, and generate accurate performance reports for senior management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders from operations, technical, and project departments to understand requirements and align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to availability, lead times, and supplier stability.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Economics (Accounting/Management), Industrial Engineering, or Logistics.
- More than 8 years of progressive experience in a procurement or supply chain role, with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory or team lead capacity (e.g., Purchasing Team Lead, Purchasing Supervisor).
- Mandatory proficiency in using MS Dynamics 365 Business Central; experience with other major ERP systems is an advantage.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract management.
- Prior exposure to the marine, oil & gas, heavy equipment, or related project-based industries is highly desirable.
