Junior System Engineer

System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, cloud. This role involves working with internal teams and customers to ensure the smooth operation, reliability, and security of IT systems. System Engineer must have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to system optimization and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Implementation
Analyze business and technical requirements to design suitable IT infrastructure solutions.
Deploy, configure, and optimize servers, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.).
Implement cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid environments
- Configure and manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and authentication mechanisms.
Design and deploy backup & disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, NetBackup, etc.).
- System Administration & Maintenance
Monitor system performance, availability, and security using tools.
Maintain patch management, firmware updates, and security configurations.
Perform server hardening, firewall rule management, and compliance auditing.
Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery readiness. 3. Storage & Virtualization Management
Configure and manage SAN/NAS storage, RAID levels, and object storage solutions (Wasabi, S3, etc.).
Manage virtualized environments and ensure proper resource allocation, scaling, and optimization.
Implement clustering, failover, and load-balancing strategies to enhance system resilience.
- Security & Compliance
Apply cybersecurity best practices to protect infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Troubleshooting & Support
Investigate and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
Provide Level 2/3 technical support for internal teams and customers.
Work closely with external support teams to resolve advanced system issues.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, architecture diagrams, and SOPs.
Provide training and guidance to IT staff and end-users on system best practices.
Conduct post-implementation reviews and recommend improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
1+ years of experience in system engineering, IT infrastructure, or a related role
Experience in IT vendor, system integrator, or managed service provider (MSP) is a plus.
