We are looking for an experienced Procurement Officer – Transport Service (Shipping & Logistics) to join our team in Jakarta. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers of vessels, barges, and shipping services to support our freight forwarding operations.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Supplier Sourcing & Evaluation:
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of barges, cargo ships, and LCT vessels across Indonesia and nearby regions. Assess vessel condition, operational qualifications, financial status, and reputation to build a reliable supplier database. - Procurement Negotiation & Contract Management:
Negotiate vessel charter rates, rental terms, and service clauses to achieve the best procurement conditions. Draft, review, and finalize Ship Charter Party Agreements (SPAL) in compliance with Indonesian maritime regulations. - Procurement Planning & Execution:
Develop and execute vessel procurement plans based on operational needs. Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective vessel delivery. - Cost Control & Market Analysis:
Monitor vessel market trends, analyze cost components, and manage procurement budgets efficiently. Implement innovative procurement strategies to reduce costs and optimize benefits. - Risk & Quality Management:
Identify and mitigate procurement risks (market, supplier, legal, and contractual) to ensure smooth operations. - Data Reporting:
Analyze procurement data (pricing, supplier performance, market dynamics) and prepare reports to support management decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or above, with priority given to majors such as Shipping Management, Logistics Engineering, International Trade, and Business Administration;
- Having more than 5 years of work experience in vessel procurement, shipping logistics, etc., with priority given to those with experience in purchasing or leasing LCT/barge vessels;
- Familiar with the Indonesian shipping market, and understand local shipping routes, port and island conditions, vessel supplier resources, industry regulations and policies, and market operation rules;
- Familiar with the terms of the Indonesian barge procurement SPAL contract, the loading capacity and specifications of barges/LCT/cargo ships, and vessel stowage;
- Familiar with the procedures for vessel berthing/departure in Indonesia;
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken) to communicate effectively with international vendors and partners;
- Proficient in using office software (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and having certain data processing and analysis capabilities;
- Having keen market insight, strong risk prevention awareness, and excellent problem-solving ability;
- Being serious and responsible in work, rigorous and meticulous, with good team spirit and a high sense of professionalism;
- Able to adapt to high-intensity work pressure and have certain business trip capabilities.
