Excited to join Tesla's Supplier Industrialization Engineer team? This role focuses on component quality control, manufacturing process development, and production of parts for our vehicles, Tesla Energy, batteries, and other integral components. You will support supply chain teams and contract manufacturing partners on critical display components, managing subcomponents and Top-Level-Assembly (TLA) process and qualification activities, especially mechanical quality control, to support Supply Chain metrics.
Reporting to the Supplier Industrialization Engineer Manager, you will be part of the Supply Chain Organization supporting NPI development, cost-down activity implementation, quality improvement, and TQP activity to deliver optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. Build strong relationships with Gigafactory Material Planning, Quality Assurance, Display Engineering, and key suppliers to meet quality and delivery targets.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the display TLA and sub-component development, validation and management of existing and developing Tesla manufacturing partners.
- Responsible for mechanical quality control on TLA and sub-components.
- Support setup and develop new process in assembly manufacturing lines with candidate suppliers.
- Support setup on supplier’s quality control flow and ramping operation (IQC/OQC) based on Tesla display inspection criteria, define containment plan and correct actions to ensure engineering design concept and yield target compliance.
- Conduct FACA on any mechanical quality issue and solidify implementation plan.
- Access supplier’s production readiness to support engineering build and conduct TQP activity to meet SOP ramp.
- Influence product manufacturability, testability, and supply chain responsiveness for low cost and flexibility while stewarding quality.
- Drive supplier’s process performance and coordinate yield improvement to meet manufacturing cost reduction targets.
- Support Tesla Gigafactory Quality Team to define and perform containment plan related to supplier-corrective-action request (SCAR) part defect and field return.
- Validate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers.
- Present timely, concise reports or plans for product yield performance and supplier capacity.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in mechanical quality management areas.
- BS/MS Degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability.
- Knowledge of mechanical subassemblies, mechanical quality control, thixomolding and die-casting process, BLU (Back Light Unit) mechanical assembly process is preferred.
- Strong communication skills in multinational environments.

- Experience in manufacturing, process engineering and quality controlling.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Results oriented and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present to management.
- Understanding of costing concepts, cost reduction, modeling, etc. preferred.
- Ability to travel frequently.
