Position Overview
The Facility Administrator will manage and maintain engineering facility operations to ensure optimal working conditions, compliance with safety regulations, and efficient resource utilization. This role supports engineering teams by maintaining infrastructure, coordinating maintenance activities, and managing facility-related administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Management & Operations
Oversee daily facility operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems to maintain safe and productive engineering work environments. Monitor and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment, testing facilities, and specialized engineering tools. Manage facility security protocols, access control systems, and emergency procedures specific to engineering operations.
Space Planning & Resource Management
Coordinate workspace allocation and modifications to accommodate engineering project requirements, equipment installations, and team expansions. Manage inventory of facility supplies, equipment, and materials while maintaining cost-effective procurement processes. Oversee meeting room scheduling, conference facilities, and shared engineering spaces to maximize utilization.
Compliance & Safety Administration
Ensure facility compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and engineering-specific safety protocols. Maintain documentation for facility inspections, safety audits, and regulatory compliance reporting. Coordinate with safety officers to implement and monitor safety procedures for engineering laboratories and workshops.
Vendor & Contract Management
Manage relationships with facility service vendors, contractors, and maintenance providers to ensure quality service delivery within budget parameters. Coordinate facility improvement projects, renovations, and equipment installations with minimal disruption to engineering operations. Negotiate contracts and service agreements for facility-related services.
Administrative Support
Provide administrative support for facility-related documentation, work orders, and maintenance records. Assist engineering management with facility planning, budget preparation, and resource allocation decisions. Coordinate with IT departments for infrastructure requirements supporting engineering systems and equipment.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of engineering facility requirements including laboratory standards, equipment specifications, and environmental controls. Experience with budget management, vendor negotiations, and contract administration. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and ability to work independently in fast-paced engineering environments.
