Product Development Manager (Footwear Industry-Brown Shoe)

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Product Development Manager to lead our footwear development team. This role plays a critical part in turning creative designs into high-quality, market-ready products. You will manage the entire product development cycle — from sample planning to production handover — ensuring excellence in quality, cost, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all product sample development activities, ensuring delivery that meets customer specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Partner closely with design, costing, production, and sourcing teams to translate product concepts into feasible and profitable footwear collections.
  • Monitor and control material inventory in collaboration with the warehouse team to ensure efficient material usage and availability.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve product development processes for greater speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Product Development Department to ensure targets are consistently achieved.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing product development team, encouraging innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Act as the main liaison between internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure seamless communication and project alignment.
  • Support the smooth transition of new styles from sample development to mass production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Product Design, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the footwear (brown shoe) manufacturing industry, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of footwear manufacturing processes, from design, pattern making, and materials to costing and production.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); knowledge of PLM or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
