Key Responsibilities
  • Database Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor database performance, capacity, and utilization using monitoring tools and reports.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and log management.
  • Ensure high availability, data integrity, and security of database systems.
  • Operations & Administration

  • Administer, configure, and manage Oracle, Postgres (EDB), and Cassandra databases across environments (DEV, UAT, PROD).

  • Implement and manage user roles, privileges, and access control.
  • Apply database patches, upgrades, and migration tasks.
  • Performance Optimization

  • Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database structures to improve performance.

  • Conduct proactive performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Identify and resolve potential bottlenecks and resource utilization issues.
  • Troubleshooting & Support

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database-related incidents and errors.

  • Handle and resolve Level 2 (L2) support tickets related to database issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to Oracle or EDB support teams based on existing contracts.
  • Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Ensure database environments comply with company policies, data protection regulations, and audit requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer.
  • Proven experience managing Oracle, Postgres (EDB), and Cassandra databases.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of database architecture, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in SQL tuning, query optimization, and stored procedure development.
  • Familiarity with replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, pgBackRest, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., OEM, Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team under minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and strong commitment to data integrity and system reliability.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • EnterpriseDB Certified PostgreSQL DBA
  • Cassandra Administrator Certification
