We are seeking a highly qualified, passionate, and dedicated
Mandarin Teacher

to join our dynamic academic team. The ideal candidate will be a fluent Mandarin speaker with a profound understanding of Chinese language, culture, and pedagogy. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, standards-based Mandarin curriculum to students, fostering a supportive and immersive learning environment, and inspiring a genuine interest in the Chinese language and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum standards and learning objectives.
  • Deliver interactive classroom instruction to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, fostering all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies (e.g., communicative approach, task-based learning, multimedia resources) to address diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student performance through quizzes, oral presentations, written assignments, and regular progress reports; provide timely feedback.
  • Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate students with special needs or differing proficiency levels.
  • Integrate Chinese culture, customs, and contemporary topics into lessons to enhance cross-cultural understanding.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development workshops, and professional development sessions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Uphold classroom management standards, maintain a positive learning environment, and enforce school policies.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers to organize language clubs, immersion days, and cultural events.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese; excellent command of standard Putonghua.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Education, Chinese Language & Literature, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or qualification such as:

o  Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (China or equivalent)

o  Internationally recognized TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate (with focus on Mandarin instruction)

o  Certificate for Mandarin Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages (e.g., CTCSOL)

  • Minimum of 2 years' proven experience teaching Mandarin as a second language, preferably in an international or bilingual setting.
  • Strong knowledge of modern pedagogical approaches and curriculum design.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) sufficient for lesson planning, reporting, and parent communication.
  • Experience in teaching Mandarin for Kindergarten and Elementary level.
