Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Specialist to join our procurement team. This role requires a professional who can effectively manage sourcing activities, drive cost optimization initiatives, and support our operational excellence through strategic procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute sourcing and procurement activities for spare parts, equipment, and services
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Identify and implement cost avoidance and cost saving opportunities
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to understand technical requirements for spare parts and machinery components
- Conduct market research and supplier evaluations
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
- Support budget planning and forecasting activities
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
- Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies and procurement best practices
- Demonstrated experience with cost analysis, cost avoidance, and cost saving initiatives
- Knowledge of spare parts management and basic understanding of mechanical/electrical components
- Proficiency in KPI development, tracking, and reporting
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Understanding of business fundamentals and financial impact of procurement decisions
