Role Description
- Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related tools.
- Manage and maintain database systems across multiple environments (development, testing, and production).
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies (e.g., indexing, partitioning, query optimization).
- Manage user roles, permissions, and database security (access control, encryption, auditing).
- Ensure database availability through clustering, replication, and failover mechanisms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance or reliability issues.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployment and optimization.
- Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and database architecture.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- roficient in relational database systems: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
- Familiar with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Couchbase.
- Experienced in backup and recovery planning, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Knowledge of database security, including role management, access control, and encryption.
- Skilled in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Understanding of high availability and replication technologies such as Oracle RAC, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and mirroring systems.
