We are looking for an ambitious Business Development Specialist to join our Sales Team in Indonesia.

As part of the Sales Team, you will work in a fast-paced environment with the existing team and other functions across the group, focusing on driving Telum Media's business growth in Indonesia through a combination of outbound and inbound sales efforts.

Telum Media is a tech company, founded in 2013, that builds connections between the communications and media industries across the Asia-Pacific region, Australia and New Zealand and the Middle East. We work with our friends in journalism and public relations every day to update our comprehensive information platform, publish breaking industry news and host tailored regional networking and educational events.

This is a pure new business role as opposed to account management. The ideal candidate is a proactive hunter — constantly seeking new opportunities and motivated to build new client relationships.

You'll identify and engage PR agencies, brands, and corporate communications teams, introducing them to Telum Media's media database platform. You'll manage the full sales process — from lead generation and qualification to deal closure — before handing new clients over to our Client Management team for ongoing support.

Key Duties & Accountabilities

Lead Generation & Outreach

  • Identify, research, and approach potential clients through various channels.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with Telum's growth strategy.

Inbound Lead Qualification

  • Handle inbound inquiries and assess suitability for Telum's offerings.
  • Understand client needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

Sales Process Management

  • Conduct online or in-person demos and sales presentations.
  • Develop tailored proposals and close new business opportunities.

Client Handover & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Client Management team to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Provide clear documentation of client requirements and expectations.

Reporting & Market Feedback

  • Maintain accurate CRM updates and report progress to regional leadership.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, client feedback, and competitor activity in the market, and share relevant insights with the regional team when appropriate.

Dimensions of the Job

  • Achievement of monthly and quarterly sales targets
  • Number of new qualified leads generated
  • Conversion rates from opportunity, pitches to closed deals
  • Accuracy and timeliness of CRM updates
  • Other sales activities indicators: Emails sent, new contacts added, response rate of emails

Candidates with an existing network of PR, media, or marketing industry contacts in Indonesia will have a clear advantage, as strong relationships are key to success in this role.

Experience working with SaaS or data platforms is a strong advantage, as is a solid understanding of how PR and communications teams operate in Indonesia.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or client-facing roles, with a proven record of achieving sales targets and managing end-to-end pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Proven experience in sales or business development, preferably in B2B or service-based industries
  • Strong understanding of the media, communications, or marketing landscape in Indonesia
  • Confident phone manner and comfortable with outreach via calls, email, and LinkedIn
  • Solid grasp of sales pipeline management — from lead generation to deal closure
  • Familiarity with sales and CRM tools such as HubSpot, SURFE, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator is an advantage
  • An established network of clients or industry contacts within PR, media, or communications will be highly regarded
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented, with a positive attitude toward achieving targets
  • Able to multitask and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
