JOB OVERVIEW

The Product Developer is responsible for managing the development process for Ogio and Callaway golf bag product lines. Leveraging experience with factories and strong knowledge of product development processes, this role works closely with the Development HQ team, from the initial product brief, through the tech pack stage, sampling, and up to final production at the manufacturer. The role ensures that the intended design, aesthetics, quality, delivery schedule, target cost, and margin objectives are all successfully achieved.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transform design from tech pack stage to final, approved product using knowledge of vendor resources, materials characteristics, and product functionality.
  • Partner with Design team and Development HQ to work with the factories on the technical and construction needs.
  • Hands on construction problem solving.
  • Monitor and track all samples.
  • Translate critical features in working designs and tech packs for suppliers. Review and negotiate specific details during the sampling process related to design specifications.
  • Daily interaction with vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage all Prototype requests - including submission, tracking and receipt.
  • Manage WIP process, including the creation of seasonal WIPs, ensuring vendors are sending updated WIPs weekly, reviewing all WIPs to ensure accuracy and follow up on status as needed.
  • Track development through internal WIPs and lead the communication on calendar timing, materials, sample schedule and risk avoidance to all stakeholders.
  • Perform Proto review and prepare detailed feedback for communication with Design teams and suppliers.
  • Update Centric PLM on a daily basis with necessary information.
  • Manage, coordinate, and maintain fabric, trim, and sample library.
  • Maintain product development schedule/calendar ensuring all milestone and timelines are met.
  • Responsible for product from initial hand-off stage to sign-off stage.
  • Operate with a complete understanding of the development process.
  • Responsible for communicating comments to vendors; reviews comments with designers.
  • Lead and manage a team of Product Developers to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Product Development team.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Product Developer, preferably in outdoor equipment (bags, backpacks, luggage, ....)
  • Experience with PLM software
  • Solid understanding of general manufacturing principles
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments related to the accessory business
  • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills to represent the company with internal management and external suppliers/vendors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
