About WasteX

WasteX provides a globally-unique, full-stack biochar solution for agricultural producers and carbon projects developers in Indonesia, India and elsewhere internationally. We help our clients utilize biomass waste, improve productivity, and generate additional income while removing carbon.

We are a VC-backed climate tech startup headquartered in Singapore with operations in Indonesia and India.

We are seeking a motivated Project/Production Engineer to support both project implementation and biochar facility operations. You will coordinate with Production and Operation Managers, partners, vendors, and clients to ensure timely project delivery while also monitoring daily production, meeting KPIs, and maintaining safety and quality standards in biochar production. The role requires technical problem-solving, hands-on production oversight, and strong teamwork to drive operational excellence and project success. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to WasteX's growth while driving operational excellence and sustainable impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project implementation, including equipment installation, commissioning, training, and smooth handover to clients.
  • Monitor and manage day-to-day biochar production to achieve targets, KPIs, safety, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with Production and Operation Manager, vendors, and clients/partners on scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics to ensure timely project and production milestones.
  • Standardize procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and implement best practices to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee feedstock readiness (supply, shredding, drying) and resolve operational challenges to minimize downtime and ensure stable throughput.
  • Track costs, performance data, and facility economics, providing insights and recommendations to optimize productivity and ROI.
  • Foster effective communication with cross-functional teams and escalate critical issues promptly to keep projects and production on track.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial / Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in project execution, plant operations, or production systems, ideally in energy, biomass, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiar with equipment installation, commissioning, and production monitoring; exposure to biomass handling/processing (e.g., drying, shredding, pelletizing) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of project management, operational KPIs, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication with proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and operators.
  • Willing to travel and spend time on-site (up to 50%) to support both projects and/or production operations.

Offer

  • Monthly salary up to USD 500 depending on experience.
  • Covered expenses for field trip to the site / biochar facilities.
  • Opportunity to innovate with almost no boundaries and build a one-of-its-kind, high-impact business for a massive untapped market while mitigating climate change.
