Job Title : Game Technical Artist

About The Role:
We are looking for a Game Technical Artist who can work in the Unity Engine environment, with the primary task of implementing environment and level design for a cozy, exploration-themed 2D platformer.
You will collaborate closely with programmers and artists to implement mesh layouts, asset layouts, lighting and color adjustments, as well as be responsible for the creation and implementation of shaders and particle effects to bring our game world to life.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and be able to implement colliders, sprites, and layering in implementing layouts within a Unity scene.
- Create, optimize, and implement custom shaders and particle effects (e.g., using Shader Graph and Unity's particle system) to achieve the desired visual style.
- Work with the art team to set up lighting and color grading within the scene to match the art direction.
- Implement and optimize 2D assets (such as sprite atlases, sprite controller) into Unity.
- Help identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to graphics.
- Ensure all development work is aligned with the overall project goals, art direction, and quality standards.
- Stay updated with industry trends and Unity updates (especially related to 2D rendering and visual effects) to continually improve the development process.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Technical Artist, VFX Artist (simple built-in Unity particles system), or a similar role in the games industry, with a portfolio showcasing your skills.
- Strong proficiency with the Unity Engine, especially for 2D development.
- A strong understanding of the 2D universal rendering pipeline in Unity.
- Experience in creating and optimizing shaders (ideally using Shader Graph; HLSL/CG knowledge is a bonus).
- A good understanding of art principles, such as composition, lighting, and color theory.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to bridge the gap between technical (programmers) and artistic (artists/designers) teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with C# scripting in Unity.
- Knowledge of 2D rigging and animation in Unity (e.g., Spine, or built-in sprite animation).
- Experience using version control systems like Git.
