This position is responsible for establishing and managing the hospital’s radiology services from the commissioning phase through full operational readiness. This includes planning, installation, testing, and commissioning of imaging equipment, developing departmental policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Once the hospital becomes operational, the Radiology Supervisor oversees daily operations to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality diagnostic imaging services that support clinical care.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate with project teams, contractors, vendors, and clinical departments to ensure the radiology department is fully functional and compliant from day one.
Key Outcomes- Successful commissioning and readiness of all radiology facilities and imaging systems.
- Compliance with radiation safety, infection control, and healthcare accreditation standards.
- Consistent delivery of accurate, high-quality diagnostic imaging services.
- Well-trained and motivated radiology staff capable of supporting hospital operations.

During the Commissioning phase
- Participate in the planning and design of the radiology department layout, ensuring compliance with radiation protection and workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate installation, calibration, and acceptance testing of radiology equipment (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, etc.).
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and biomedical engineers to ensure timely and compliant setup of all imaging systems.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, SOPs, and quality assurance programs.
- Support staff recruitment, orientation, and training prior to hospital opening.
- Ensure all regulatory and licensing requirements for radiation facilities are met before commissioning.
Post-commissioning/operational phase:
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the radiology department.
- Ensure imaging services are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
- Manage staff scheduling, workflow, and performance to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other departments to support clinical needs.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, calibration, and performance checks of all imaging equipment.
- Monitor image quality and implement quality control and improvement initiatives.
- Manage inventory, consumables, and radiology supplies.
- Maintain accurate departmental records and prepare operational reports.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations for radiology staff.
- Ensure continuous compliance with health, safety, and accreditation standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Radiologic Technology or Medical Imaging.
- Licensed or certified Radiographer/Radiologic Technologist in accordance with national regulations.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in radiology, including experience in department setup, commissioning, or supervisory roles.
- Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of imaging modalities, radiation protection, and quality assurance processes.
- Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
- Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for imaging departments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.
